
Artists announced for new residency programme focusing on air quality and pollution
Galway Arts Centre, in conjunction with Galway City Council, announced the awarding of three art commissions under an innovative new artist-in-residence programme. The programme supports artists to engage with the communities of Galway City’s Westside and to creatively respond to scientific research on air quality and climate conducted by local citizens and climate scientists from the University of Galway.

Goethe-Institut’s ‘Slow Touring’ project brings up-and-coming Berlin musician to Ireland
The Goethe-Institut Irland has announced that Berlin-based queer musician, model, dancer LIE NING will be coming to Dublin next month for two concerts as part of its sustainability-focused ‘Slow Touring’ project. LIE NING, whose music blends indie, soul and R’n’B, released their debut album utopia in April 2023 to critical acclaim. The album was produced by Irish Grammy winner Stephen Fitzmaurice, known for his work with artists including U2, Sam Smith, Alicia Keys, and Mary J Blige.

Geoscience research and innovation central to tackling major challenges facing society – iCRAG
Changes in the earth system are leading to a cascade of environmental impacts that are significantly affecting Irish and global society. It is crucial to research and understand these changes and to develop solutions to mitigate negative consequences and help power a sustainable future. That’s according to Professor Murray Hitzman, Director of iCRAG, the SFI Research Centre in Applied Geosciences, who was speaking at the iCRAG2022 conference in Dublin today (01.12.22).

West Kerry farmers to mark end of year-long sustainability project with public event
